A bitter-sweet comedy drama set in Ballywalter, Northern Ireland.

Eileen is a university drop-out whose dreams of a successful life in London have fallen by the wayside. Back at home with her mother, she makes ends meet by drivings a taxi. Shane's marriage has broken down but he is trying to get his life back on track by enrolling in a stand-up comedy course.

When he calls a taxi, Eileen answers and a surprising connection is made. As the two spend time together shuttling back and forth, a beautiful friendship develops. Shane reintegrates, and Eileen makes peace with herself and who she really is.

The remarkable story of Cork-born singer-songwriter Fergus O'Farrell, the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990s. He is best known for his timeless song "GOLD" which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar-winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical. Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, Fergus kept singing. His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters even as his own was slipping away. This intimate journey into the heart and soul of the late Fergus O'Farrell was filmed over ten years and also features Oscar winner Glen Hansard.

Winner of the George Morrison Feature Documentary Award at the 2021 Irish Film & Television Academy Awards and Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh .

An inheritance doesn't always signify the end to all problems. Quite the opposite: for two penniless, aging friends, it creates a host of new ones which at first seem insoluble.

A tale of friendship, of optimism against reality, of father-daughter relationships, all centred around an Irish pub in Pfaffenthal which has seen better days... Wonderful characters and great cinematography which captures Luxembourg City, particularly Pfaffenthal, in all its glory.

A wounded Marine is sent to a Veterans Affairs facility in Montana where he meets another Vet, from the Vietnam War, who teaches him how to fly fish as a way of dealing with his emotional and physical trauma.

It is a heartwarming story of redemption, healing and hope from the viewpoint of two Combat Vets, one from Vietnam and one from Afghanistan, and one civilian who lost a loved one.

Great cinematography and solid storytelling; comparable to the 1992 film directed by Robert Redford, A River Runs Through It, starring Brad Pitt (also set in Montana with a fly fishing backdrop).

Former addict Leon (Barry Ward) is indebted to Iver (Liam Carney), his friend who helped him back from the edge. Now the tables have turned; Leon is clean and bursting with unbridled energy while Iver is at death’s door. Diagnosed with a terminal illness, he has invited Maria (Maureen Beattie) to help him with an early exit. Leon is having none of it and forces Iver to agree to one last day out in Dublin visiting his favourite people and places, hoping to convince him to live. Ward and Carney create warmly complementary characters in this refreshing film about male friendship, which reunites writer Ailbhe Keogan and Claire Dix (in her debut feature).

Infused with the humour and sights and sounds of Dublin, this is a joyous offering underpinned by hefty questions of life and death.

The film explores the life and times of Richard Harris, arguably the most remarkable actor Ireland has ever produced. He won Best Actor in Cannes and was Oscar nominated for This Sporting Life in 1963 and again for The Field in 1990. Although Harris died 20 years ago - bowing out as the first Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films - he will take centre stage through some previously unheard tapes and unseen family footage, and interviews with those who knew him best. The ghost of our title is this complex individual who comes back to haunt the people and places who were dear to him. The film also features his three sons as they explore the work and character of their father. The film reveals that there was much more to Richard Harris than the hellraising image he created. He was also a singer who had chart success and released five albums, a published poet who wrote throughout his life and a republican who was passionate about Irish independence.

Winner at both the Newport Beach Film Festival and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.

The charming, hilarious and true story of how two boys from Dublin jumped the train into town and ended up in New York in the August of 1985. 10 year-old Keith Byrne and 13 year-old Noel Murray sneaked onto the Holyhead ferry, jumped a train to London and then, most amazing of all, brazenly walked onto an Air India jumbo jet at Heathrow and walked off at JFK.

The New York policeman who finally picked up the boys said the pair appeared to be ‘streetwise’ gets the award for understatement of the year. Keith and Noel, now in their 40s, tell their incredible story with more than a hint of humour.

Dr. James Gallacher will give a brief overview of depictions of Conflict and Trauma in British and Irish cinema with a focus Richard Harris as Cromwell (he starred as the lead character in the 1970 film "Oliver Cromwell" by Ken Hughes) amidst the backdrop of The Troubles.

The documentary "The Ghost of Richard Harris" is being screened on Thursday 21 September at the Cinémathèque within the BIFFL 2023 Autumn Edition.

Dr. Gallacher will be giving two lecture series under Irish Studies at the University of Luxembourg in the coming academic year, one entitled "Irish Writers in Context", addressing Jonathan Swift and Oscar Wilde, etc., and the other on "Conflict and Trauma in British and Irish cinema from WWII". 

The Seminar will be followed by an ILCC-sponsored presentation on “The Business of Irish - Luxembourg Film Production"

Ken O'Mahony will share his experiences of setting up a Section 481 Film Production Company as well as a specific film production company (which addresses modern-day relationship issues including conflict and trauma). The presentation will review his subsequent engagements regarding funding (including from Screen Ireland and Luxembourg), and Screen Ireland’s funding mandate to encourage and fund young Irish apprentice filmmakers (from directors and actors through to lighting assistants, etc). He will present a case study outlining how a young Irish company was able to overcome the challenges of getting funding support in both Ireland and Luxembourg

The seminar and presentation will be followed by a networking cocktail.
