Genre | drama | |
Duration | 130 mins | |
Directed by | Frances O'Connor
Starring | Emma Mackey, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Fionn Whitehead, Alexandra Dowling, Amelia Gething, Adrian Dunbar
Synopsis |
The imagined life of one of the world’s most famous authors, Emily Brontë. Emily is the transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to womanhood of a rebel and a misfit. Exploring the relationships that inspired her – her raw, passionate sisterhood with Charlotte and Anne; her first aching, forbidden love for Weightman and her care for her maverick brother Branwell whom she idolises, the film portrays one of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers who died too soon at the age of 30. This film is a portrayal of the character and inspiration behind Emily Bronte, rather than a formal biopic. The storyline is loosely based on Emily Bronte's life and depicts events which are mirrored in Wuthering Heights. This "BIFFL Presents..." screening is being organised in collaboration with Ciné Utopia. |

In 2012, the king's remains were discovered beneath a carpark in Leicester. Philippa Langley's unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with scepticism by experts and academics. "The Lost King" is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country's most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England's history. Filmed mainly in Edinburgh, partly in Leicester. This "BIFFL Presents..." screening is being organised in collaboration with Ciné Utopia. |
